The History of ABC EDUCARE

ABC opened at 460 St. Aubyn Street in July 1985 with 11 children and three staff. The owners, Sheri and Tony Walsh lived on the premises. As demand for early childhood education grew another storey was built onto the house, and they moved upstairs, leaving the downstairs for the Childcare centre.

Five years later, with increasing rolls, another centre was opened next door, and age groups separated with infants and toddlers moving to 462 St. Aubyn Street.

In 1995 demand called for another change, with the infants and toddlers once again moving next door, this time to 464 St. Aubyn Street.

There are now up to 80 children at ABC between the three houses, from infants to school age children attending after school and school holiday programmes.

Sheri and Tony are still the owners of ABC EDUCARE. Sheri is the Manager and oversees the educational programme, personnel, management and administration, while Tony is the centres administrator and handles the accounts side of the business.
