3.5yrs - 5yrsThe Big house aims to extend and enhance the children’s development, natural curiosities and special interests within a supportive learning environment.
Children are encouraged to make choices and decisions and take responsibility for their learning.
Children choose activities and participate in small group learning experiences from a variety of curriculum areas.
Teachers work alongside the children to support their learning and development and maximise learning outcomes.
Excursions out into the community are also a valuable part of our programme. Visits are by van or on foot depending on the distance. Our favourite destinations include the local parks, Puke Ariki and the beach. We also offer swimming lessons at the Aquatic Centre.
Relationships – Ngā Hononga
We foster respectful relationships with children, parents and whānau through positive and reciprocal interactions.
Teachers are reflective in their practice; their strengths and commitment to teaching are valued within the team.
Learning Environment – Te wāhi ako
